Pete Doherty Rearrested After Driving And Drug Offence Convictions
Just moments after rock singer Pete Doherty, 30, walked free from court, fined for drink driving and possession of drugs, he was arrested once again after an item suspected to be a drugs wrap, fell from his pocket during a security search as he entered Gloucester Crown Court.
The singer admitted to carelessness and drink driving after a concert during the hearing, and was fined £2,050 and an 18-month driving ban was imposed on him. He had also admitted to possessing drugs at a previous hearing, with court hearing that Doherty had 21-previous drug convictions, including 6-previous motoring offences.
The police rearresting Doherty in the corridors of the Victorian court, escorted him to a near by police station for questioning.
A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘A 30-year-old Wiltshire man has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries.’
While, sources close to the investigation say, Pete Doherty could also be charged with offences linked to a hit-and-run that left a man in a critical condition, as his manager Andrew Boyd, 42, believed to be driving a Jaguar belonging to Doherty, has already appeared in court charged for a number of offences relating to the Hadleigh, Suffolk incidence in September.
Pedestrian Chris Corder, 42, who was seriously injured in the collision, remains in a coma at the Royal London Hospital.
