Scots Dentists Use Pain Free Jag In Pioneering Technique
Dr Biju Krishnan, a cosmetic dentist and the owner of Lubiju in Edinburgh, is the first in Scotland to use the QuickSleeper system, a new pain free jag for needle-fearing patients that instantly numbs teeth with a single injection.
Since, the system injects straight into the tooth, instead of the gum, Krishnan says patients feel only a small vibration, as bone does not have any nerve endings, which means patients don’t feel a thing. The system is not only completely painless, it numbs only the teeth that are being worked on, and not the cheeks or the lips.
It not only benefits the patient, but also the dentist as one jab numbs eight teeth at once, compared to a single injection per tooth required, previously.
He believes being able to offer a pain anaesthetic has removed one of the biggest obstacles dentists face, working with patients with a deep-rooted fear of injections.
Paul McPherson of General Medical who supplies Quicksleeper in Scotland said children will benefit the most from the technology, including those who fear going to the dentist.
Dr Krishnan, along with his fellow Dundee University graduate i. e. Dr Lubino do Rego opened their clinic in March 2009, concentrating on developing emerging hi-tech cosmetic dentistry techniques.
Their clinic also offers the services of a hypnotherapist to help patients relax and address phobias.
