Disruption Continues at Tungurahua Volcano
The havoc of the Tungurahua volcano has not ended as it is still spewing hot fire and lava in the air. On 28th of November, 2011, the world witnessed a beautiful but horrifying site of volcano eruption. Following the eruption of the volcano, the authorities urged the villagers to evacuate the area.
It has been informed by the Ecuadorian Geophysical Institute that mild rain fall in the area has again caused unfriendly movement in the volcano. Today, in the morning, ashes were found to be falling all over the area of cities Baños and Rio Verde.
Amidst the disruption, tremor activities are still going on inside the volcano. Last night, the tourist city of Baños experienced a mild earthquake. In the last four months, it was for the very first time when earthquake was experienced.
Because of the continuous activity of the volcano, the authorities were forced to call for orange alert. The Tungurahua volcano is 5,029-meter tall and is situated in the country's central Andes, which 135 km away from south of the capital Quito.
The volcano is said to be active since 1999. However, since last Sunday, the thermal activities in the volcano have geared up. But on Monday, the weather was conducive for the scientists to carry out certain tests over the activity taking place inside the volcano.
In a recent report, Geophysical Institute informed of "continuous output of incandescent material. This activity was characterized by the expulsion of incandescent boulders, rising more than 300 meters above the crater and rolling down all sides of the volcano".
The authorities concerned have already contacted army forces and police for help. They have urged them to maintain co-ordination at the time of alert. Last December as well, a red alert was issued in the area and thousands of tourists were asked to evacuate the region.
