Need for Better Drug Control Policies
It has been recently revealed that the illicit use of drugs in countries like New Zealand and Australia is mushrooming rapidly. Hence, it calls for greater inquest into the failing standards of the drug abuse policies of the nations. There is need for making stricter rules to bring down the number of drug abusers.
In a recent research, it was revealed that many people had tried their hands at illegal drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine and cannabis, besides others. So, it is putting them to a high risk of getting addicted, or getting adversely affected by the same.
The problem of drug abuse is an ever-growing concern, and there is a need for the government to put stronger policies and measures for tackling the issue. The researchers are of the view that there has been a rise in the percentage of the usage of illicit drugs in people, and this has resulted in a number of deaths as well.
Drugs are actually posing a threat on people’s lives, with the risk being more than that of by tobacco and alcohol. This is because they are done under the covers and one doesn’t really understand when they have had too much, and when they have started to get addicted to drugs.
“Drug use remains a significant issue for the Australian population, which means more could be done to tackle it. Some of the most promising options are the ones often given the least funding, and that includes some of the harm-reduction interventions”, revealed Professor Louisa Degenhardt, of the national Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, the University of NSW.
There is need for conducting more awareness camps, to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs, so that they are motivated to give up their addictions and follow a clean way of life.
