Father-Son Heart Disease Link Found
Latest reason of tension for researchers is the father-son link that they doubt could be one of the causes behind the spread of the most common heart disease that is becoming reason of death of thousands of people every year.
The above findings have been found from the study led by the University of Leicester, which primarily reveals about the danger of heart disease that lies in a particular version of the Y chromosome and is found only in men.
Scientists have also cleared in their statement that those men, who are carrying the version of Y chromosome, are at a 50% higher risk to suffer from coronary heart disease that can lead to a heart attack.
According to the reports, British Heart Foundation (BHF) has provided maximum funding to the above research. Dr. Helene Wilson, from the BHF has also well supported the discovery and said that the findings could help the researchers to find new as well as more effective treatment for heart disease especially in men.
Prior concluding the results, the team of professionals at the University of Leicester studied DNA reports of 3,000+ men from the BHF family heart study and also the West of Scotland coronary prevention study, which are now published in the medical journal, The Lancet.
Dr. Maciej Tomaszewski, Lead Researcher from the university, said: "We are very excited about these findings as they put the Y chromosome on the map of genetic susceptibility to coronary heart disease. The novelty of these findings is this chromosome appears to play a role in the cardiovascular system beyond its traditionally perceived determination of male sex”.
The findings could definitely help millions of men, who are today at risk of deadly heart attack.
