No Decline in NHS Productivity, Claim Authorities
As per recent reports, it has been revealed that Prof. Nick Black, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's Department of Public Health and Policy (DPHP) has recently claimed that an assessment done by the Office for National Statistics has ended up revealing that the efficiency of services and working being done at the NHS trusts all over England had witnessed a fall of 0.4% on a yearly basis. In addition, it has been claimed that the hospital sector has seen the bulk of decline in terms of facilities as well as productivity.
But still, he added that despite the entire decline measured by experts over the years, there is no major point denying the fact that the aspects of health care and other services offered by the NHS have also seen significant enhancement in a variety of departments, though the overall level of productivity has been on the lower side.
Deaths related to adult critical health care have witnessed a fall of over 2.4% on a yearly basis along with a reduction in fatalities related to various terminal heart ailments that has witnessed a downfall of 5.3% on a yearly basis. The rumors have long been airing that the efficiency of NHS in England is going down rapidly due to various aspects like misuse of funding, shortages of staff, etc.
While expressing his opinion in this regard, along with mentioning the aspects which are resulting in the spread of a myth that the productivity of the NHS is going down speedily, Prof. Nick Black, said: "To justify the reforms to the NHS that the Conservative Party wanted to introduce, the claim of declining NHS productivity was necessary. Declining NHS productivity in England between 2000 and 2009 is just one recent myth in health-care policy".
