An Algeria newspaper marked that Kouchner had rushed up to the country in an attempt to decoy us again in the Mediterranean Union – the favorite diplomatic project of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Medelci acclaimed the level of bilateral collaboration with the former metropolis, stating that the two countries were going to expand the talks about possible investments during the forthcoming visit of the French Prime Minister Francois Fillon. „This is a question, which we are engaged in nowadays, especially during the visit of the French Prime Minister in the next weeks”, he said. “The project for a Mediterranean Union deserves our attention”, added Medelci. “Algeria is a key country in the project for Mediterranean Union and our relations with Algeria are fundamental for our relations in the region of Magrib”, APS cited Kouchner.
