Chelsea's injury problems mount as Carvalho ruled out for month

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho is likely to be out for up to a month after suffering knee ligament damage in last weekend's clash with champions Manchester United.

The Portugal defender, one of the keys to Chelsea's strong defence, picked up the injury early on at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The injury is more bad news for Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, who also lost Carvalho's Portugal team-mate Deco to an injury before the United game.

Deco, who has been one of the stars for Chelsea since arriving in the summer, tore a thigh muscle and will be out for two weeks.
