At least seven people were injured when turbulence hit a Boeing 747-400 jetliner belonging to China Airlines on Saturday en route from Taipei to Indonesia's Bali island, an airport official said.
A spokesman for the Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport named Dimyati said the CAL-687 jet carrying 357 people dropped drastically to about 25,000-feet altitude from
35,000 feet, jolting passengers.
The accident took place when the jetliner flying above the Philippines, but the plane managed to land safely at Ngurah Rai Airport at about 4:05 pm (0605 GMT), said Dimyati, who like many Indonesians goes only by one name.
As soon as the plane touched down at the Ngurahi Rai Airport, the injured persons were rushed to Bali's Sanglah Hospital, he said, adding that two of them had broken bones.
