The president of "Sanofi-Aventis" and Vice President of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries Jean-Francois Jean-Francois Dehecq made this call today at Federation's annual meeting in Paris.
The turnover of the informal sector in the field amounts to 4.5 billion dollars, which means that 10% of the medicaments on the world market are illegally produced, he said.
In 2007 along the borders of Europe were seized over 4 billion packages of medicines produced by the underground economy, added Jean-Francois Dehecq.
