European Central Bank celebrates 10 years of its establishment
Finance ministers from the Eurozone will not support at today's meeting tax changes to mitigate the impact of the appreciation of oil, despite the French calls and the wave of protests against high prices in France and Britain, said a representative of the European Union, cited by Reuters.
Ministers of Finance of the Eurozone countries and the President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet will gather today at the Frankfurt monthly meeting, where will be marked 10th Anniversary from the establishment of the European Central Bank, and will discuss the economy of the 15 members, which are using the single European currency.
One of the main topics of the meeting will be inflation in the Eurozone, which contributes to the appreciation of oil and food. Ministers are expected to confirm their commitment to the agreement, which was concluded in Manchester in 2005, not to reduce fuel taxes when oil prices go up.
