Hungary train crash kills three, injures 30

A passenger train slammed into the back of a another near Budapest on Monday, killing at least three people and injuring 30 others, a news agency reported.

Several victims were critically injured when a local train struck the last car of an intercity train headed to the Hungarian capital from the eastern city of Debrecen, Hungary's MTI agency said.

The crash happened at Monorierdo, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) south-east of Budapest.

Faulty signals may have been the cause, MTI quoted a spokesman for Hungary's national railway MAV as saying.

Rescuers brought out several helicopters to get victims to hospitals, MTI reported.
