InfoDAR received the award for the "Best publishing house in Europe" at this year's Eurocon convention, held in Moscow. For us it was an extreme honour to represent Bulgaria at the awards and our win was an incredible recognition.
Eurocon awards are given annually by The European Science Fiction Society (ESFS) and the European equivalent of the global Hugo awards. For its already almost 40 years of existence Eurocon has become one of the key pan-European forums for discussion and criticism of everything related to the preparation and issuance of sci-fi literature on the Old Continent.
Each year the Convention is held in a different city, as in 2007 the ceremony took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, this year in Moscow, Russia, and in 2009 Awards will be given in Fiuggi, Italy.
While the awards are given by impartial panel of judges, the national nominations are broadcasted through free voting of readers, and they gave their votes of confidence and support to InfoDAR.
IC InfoDAR is one of the first private publishing houses in Bulgaria and since 2003 it has began to expand its range of titles. An interest provoked Bulgarian premieres of major world authors of Fantasy and Science Fiction, as R.A. Salvatore, Anne Rice, Terry Brooks, Strugatsky Brothers, Sergey Lukyanenko and Alastair Reynolds.
With tens of thousands of titles sold in recent years in Bulgaria and millions worldwide, they stand on the same level with best sellers like Harry Potter books or those of Dan Brown. These are some of the titles and names that just over 5 years made InfoDAR one of the great Bulgarian publishing houses and leading publisher of youth literature in our country.
