James Bond beats Luhrmann's Australia at the box office
Sydney - The queues were longer outside cinemas showing the latest James Bond film than those offering Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia, figures published by Screen Australia showed Thursday.
Australia took 1.3 million Australian dollars (850,000 US dollars) at the box office on its opening day on Wednesday.
Luhrmann's romance starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman paled against the 2 million Australian dollars taken by Quantum of Solace on the day it went on general release last week. (dpa)
