Upper North Shore’s Rabbit Population Explosion
Thee has been a rabbit population explosion in Australia’s Upper North Shore consisting of Ku-ring-gai, Hornsby, Pittwater, Manly, Ryde, Warringah, Parramatta, Lane Cove and The Hills municipalities, with tens of thousands of rabbits spread across northern Sydney. It seems rabbits are everywhere on road verges and in backyards, causing problems in picnic spots, sports fields, golf courses and cemeteries.
Tightening Of Homebirth Laws Recommended
After a study comparing births in South Australia between 1991 and 2006 found a similarity in perinatal mortality rates for homebirths and hospital births, including home-births being more risky than hospital deliveries, the federal government is being pushed to tighten homebirth laws.
According to the study published in the latest Medical Journal of Australia, babies are seven times at more risk of dying from complications during home-births, and 27-times more likely to suffer asphyxiation during labour, than in planned hospital deliveries.
Folic Acid Increases Chances Of Asthma 30%
New research indicates folic acid supplement intake through the entire duration of pregnancy, only increases the risk of the child having asthma by 26%.
These findings, researchers from the Univerity of Adelaide, Australia say, may help explain the increase in allergic asthma in children over the last 20-years.
