Radiation Survey Results Indicate No Health Risk
The state government has quashed all rumours regarding a risk of radiation from the decommissioned uranium testing site near Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

ACCC Blocks Queensland Man’s Cancer Treatment Claims
Yesterday, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) obtained a temporary injunction against the principal of Darryl Jones Health Resolution Centre at Nambour, over alleged misleading cancer treatment claims, from the Brisbane Federal Court.
Jones, a Queensland or the Sunshine Coast man has been accused of misleading or deceptive conduct in connection with a cancer treatment programme he has underway.
Aussies Scientists Discover Key To Obesity
In a major scientific breakthrough, Australian researchers could have found one of the keys to obesity.
A joint study conducted by Deakin University, the University of Adelaide, CSIRO and Massey University (New Zealand) scientists has led to the discovery of a sixth taste humans are able to detect i. e. fat. The study's findings also reveal people with a high degree of sensitivity to the taste of fat, not only tend to eat less fatty foods, but are also less likely to be overweight.
Motorcyclists Dominate Spinal Cord Injuries
The latest data released by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reveals the ranks of Australians suffering from a spinal cord injury continue to be dominated by young male motorcyclists.
The report found there were 362 cases new spinal cord injury cases reported in Australia last financial year 2007 - 2008, most of them from crashes or falls. Only 77 of them were because of `non-trauma' causes, such as, infection, a cancerous growth or damage linked to osteoarthritis putting pressure on the spine.
WA and the Northern Territory have the highest rates of such injuries.

Parents in Australia with some of the most severely disabled children are defending the a Queensland couple's action of going to court for permission to sterilise their 11-year-old daughter.
Those supporting the couple say the strain of puberty on girls is often too much for a disabled child to cope with.
Reporting the case yesterday, The Australian says the girl suffers from Rett syndrome, an incurable neurological disorder. Although, Angela, as she is known in court documents is almost turning 12, responds as a three-month-old baby would.
