IVF Linked To Higher Stillbirth Risk
According to a new study from Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark, women who use in vitro fertilization to fall pregnant are more likely to have a stillbirth, as compared to those who conceive naturally.
Higher stillbirth risks are also indicated for those undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection, though the risk from both IVF and ISI is still low, researchers say.
Drop In Smoking Reduces Cancer Deaths In Europe
According to doctors, better screening and a decline in smoking levels in European countries is seeing fewer numbers of people dying from cancer. However, Scotland and Hungary are two countries with a rising number of lung cancer-related deaths in women, as seemingly more of their female population smoke.
Three participants at gay festival in Denmark assaulted
Copenhagen - Three participants at World Outgames, an international gay and lesbian event taking place Denmark, were assaulted in what police on Sunday described as "hate crimes."
The men, a Norwegian, a Swede and Briton, were targeted because of their homosexuality, according to police. They were treated in hospital after the attack in central Copenhagen.
Lower oil and freight prices impact conglomerate AP Moller-Maersk
Lower oil and freight prices pushed down first- quarter turnover and profits, Danish shipping and oil concern AP Moller-Maersk said Tuesday.
Turnover, measured in dollars, declined by 24 per cent year-on- year to 11 billion dollars while the conglomerate reported a loss of 373 million dollars for the quarter.
Glaxo’s Relenza Added to Denmark’s Flu Drug Stockpile
Else Smith, Director of the National Centre of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, says Denmark plans to buy supplies of Relenza, GlaxoSmithKline's inhaled anti-viral in addition to its existing stockpile of Tamiflu tablets.
According to Smith, stockpiling Relenza is a prudent move as it is not certain that Swiss drug maker Roche Holding AG's flu drug Tamiflu may in the months ahead, be able to combat swine flu.
Earlier fears of a bird flue pandemic, has seen governments worldwide building up Tamiflu stockpiles, and to a lesser extent those of Relenza.
